As a mother of five beautiful children—two of whom have special needs—and a soon-to-be Graduate Nurse (BSN, RN), I know firsthand that the world isn't always built with our extra-special kids in mind. I know the anxiety of wondering if a public event will be too loud, too wet, or too overwhelming for a sensitive child. My husband and I created Starfish Wishes & Mermaid Kisses because we firmly believe that fairytale magic should never have barriers, triggers, or deep-water requirements. Every single child deserves to feel the pure wonder of a fairytale encounter. By blending my medical background in patient advocacy and safety with my personal journey as a special-needs mom, I have designed gentle, highly adaptive, and sensory-friendly mermaid experiences that meet children exactly where they are. To me, the ultimate magic isn't swimming in a deep tank; it is looking into a child's eyes, sharing a sea treasure, and letting them know they are safe, seen, valued, and entirely magical just as they are."
